Our organisation
The ITENE research centre provides companies with cutting-edge knowledge and technology to build a safer, more sustainable future. Founded in 1994 as a private Spanish non-profit association, ITENE’s mission is to generate scientific and technological knowledge that we transfer to companies through R&D and innovation projects and consultancy, testing, and training services. We deliver solutions in four main areas: sustainable materials and technologies for the circular economy; design, safety, and functionality in packaging; chemical safety and air quality monitoring; and logistics and smart mobility.
Our role in the project
ITENE leverages its expertise in Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) to establish a comprehensive SSbD approach and contribute to the harmonization and standardization of new methodologies and protocols developed within the project. Additionally, ITENE takes a leading role in Work Package , heading efforts to improve, develop, and validate an innovative methodology for ex-ante Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Furthermore, ITENE focuses on evaluating the socio-economic sustainability of chosen use cases.
