will be conducting a specialized training session on the EU Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Framework at the SETAC Europe 35th Annual Meeting in Vienna. Taking place on Sunday, 11 May 2025, this half-day course will provide professionals with practical knowledge to align their work with the sustainability objectives of the European Green Deal.
The 2nd Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Boot Camp took place from 22-25 October 2024, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Organized as part of the broader European efforts to advance SSbD methodologies, the event provided participants with in-depth insights into the SSbD framework and the stage gate innovation process, featuring real-life applications and hands-on training sessions for the participants on the PARC SSbD toolbox.
The SSbD24 Conference on Safe and Sustainable by Design Chemicals and Materials took place from 10-15 November 2024, in Monte Verità, Ascona, Switzerland. Organized by EMPA, the event gathered approximately 200 international scientists from academia and industry to discuss methodologies, tools, and criteria for enabling the practical application of SSbD.
From 18-19 September 2024, the in-person Annual Conference GSRS24, the 14th Global Summit on Regulatory Science, took place in Little Rock, Arkansas (US).
From September 8-11, 2024, Copenhagen, Denmark, hosted EuroTox 2024, the 58th Congress of the European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology. With the theme “Toxicology – A Quest for Safe Chemicals and Medicines”, the event brought together experts from around the world to discuss the latest advancements in toxicology, chemical safety, and emerging risk assessment methodologies.

During the Dag van de Wetenschap (Day of Science) on 24 November 2024, in Mol (Belgium), our colleague Milica Velimirovic, from VITO, represented the SSbD4CheM project in the activities, offering a specially prepared word puzzle to engage citizens in sustainability concepts and clarifying questions like “What does a sustainable future look like?”, “Why is sustainability so urgent and important and how can technology help?” and explaining how the project is contributing to it.
